Craftsmanship

the Jules Gautret expertise

our know-how

The craftsmanship involved in creating and marketing Jules Gautret cognacs stands out by its scope.

At Jules Gautret, we benefit from tremendous wealth in terms of know-how and techniques thanks to our affiliation with the Charentais cooperative group, the leader in the region.

Each craft is an essential link in the production of Jules Gautret cognac.

With over a third of the Charentais vineyards monitored by the group both agronomically and technically, Jules Gautret cognacs have numerous partners in the region.

WINEGROWERS

1250 member-winegrowers trust the group with the management of their vineyards at all stages of production.

Passion, perseverance and technical expertise are keywords for Charente winegrowers.

255 contributor-winegrowers entrust us with their grape harvests so we can produce Jules Gautret cognac.

VINEYARD ADVISORS

The group’s vineyard advisors provide specialized, individual guidance to winegrowers.

Thanks to their substantial experience, they are in a position to advise winegrowers, guiding them in vineyard management and allowing them to ensure high-quality harvests.

CELLAR MASTER

The cellar master supervises production, from grape transformation to winemaking.

The cellar master’s role is to orchestrate all the production stages of the wine used for distillation.

Consequently, when the harvest arrives, the cellar master is the one who selects the best quality grapes, which are then pressed and vinified as nobly and naturally as possible.

Then, following the cellar master’s instructions, wines will be distilled.

Oenologist

Thanks to a wide range of skills, the oenologist supervises and advises the cellar master regarding the preferred oenological operations for properly managing the alcoholic fermentation of the wines used for distillation.

The oenologist plays a role as soon as the harvested grapes arrive and remains involved until a high-quality wine is achieved, meeting the distillers’ expectations.

Distillers

Jules Gautret distillers conduct the distillation process at our company distillery in Mosnac, with 16 copper stills, also known as Charentais alembics.

Thanks to the age-old knowledge of their ancestors and applying the methods used for decades, they produce quality eau-de-vie.

Their craft now combines modernity and tradition to carry out the distillation process in keeping with the highest professional standards.

MASTER BLENDER

The master blender, using very specific manual techniques, some of which have been handed down over centuries, carefully crafts the cognacs.

Once the eaux-de-vie aged in our cellars have reached maturity, they are selected then blended to obtain Jules Gautret cognacs.
